Master's Program

Energy Science and Engineering

The program is designed for 4-semester full-time studies – it is set up modularly and grants 120 credit points. The first semester comprises a number of required courses offered to establish the knowledge base that students have not yet acquired from their Bachelor’s studies. Those modules are specifically designed for the program Energy Science and Engineering. The following courses, worth five credits each, will be offered as required courses in the first semester:

  • Renewable Energies, Energy Scenarios and Climate Protection
  • Energy Technologies in Civil Engineering and Architecture
  • Energy Technologies in Mechanical Engineering
  • Materials Science for Renewable Energy Systems
  • Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
  • Chemistry for Energy Scientists and Engineers
  • Fundamental Law, Economics and Social Science Aspects of Energy Supply and Energy Consumption
  • 4-semester full-time program
  • 120 credit points
  • Start: in the winter term
  • Registration deadline: July 15

In the required area the technical and methodological fundamentals of the program are taught. The required area includes the basic modules, the interdisciplinary energy project (IEP) and the master's thesis.

The mandatory basic modules will be determined by the examination board according to the study regulations.

The elective required area is for specialization in the following subject areas:

  • Energy – construction – infrastructure
  • Energy efficient mobility and transport concepts
  • Materials for Energy-related Processes
  • Renewable energies and technologies
  • Multimodal energy systems and sustainability assessment
  • Future power plants

The offered modules can be found in the study and examinations plan and TUCaN.
